University Students Share Insider Insights on Working in PH's Premier Tech Companie

The world of online shopping seems like a magical land of deals and fast deliveries, but what's the real deal for the people who make it all happen? If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be on the other end of the country’s leading e-commerce platform, buckle up for an inside scoop!

Meet some of the students who landed internships at Shopee, the best e-commerce employer for fresh graduates according to Prosple. They share what it’s like to be part of the company’s Apprentice Program, a training space for students to hone their skills in leading end-to-end, high-impact projects under the mentorship of Shopee’s leaders.

Nicole, the customer experience rockstar

Management Engineering student Nicole aced her internship with Shopee's Operations team after being tasked with a super cool project: revamping Shopee's chatbot service to make it even smarter and more helpful.

"Basically, I had to help make the chatbot understand users better," Nicole explains. "So I had to put myself in the shoes of the users and figure out how the chatbot can be more helpful and useful,"  she shared. More than the backend work, Nicole’s project was all about understanding why things matter. "It made me realize the impact of what I create. It wasn’t just about codes, it's about giving users a smoother experience,” Nicole says.

And as if being a Shopee Apprentice intern wasn't already enough of a flex, she even went on to improve processes for SPX Express for her senior year capstone project, helping automate processes across hubs nationwide.

Ram, the business architect in the making

Ram, a student rocking the halls of the University of Pennsylvania, decided to take his summer vacation to the next level with an internship at Shopee, where he got to lead projects himself. "Most internships do not give you the big tasks. This program actually lets you be in charge,” Ram exclaimed.

As a Corporate Affairs intern, Ram got to sharpen his business skills by tackling real-world problems. He built project plans to solve company challenges, a skill he says is a total game-changer. "This is something you can use in any job, no matter what you do," Ram shared as he emphasized how the freedom to figure things out on his own boosted his confidence. "Even as an intern, I felt like I was making a real difference at Shopee!"

Ron, the future tech titan

When an intern finishes Shopee's Apprentice Program with flying colors, they get recommended to the company’s Graduate Development Program, a supercharged training program that prepares interns to become superstar leaders.

With the recommendation, they get to skip two levels of the screening process, fast-tracking their application to the program—that's exactly what happened to Ron, a Business Administration student who, before joining Shopee’s internship programs, already won the company’s Ultimate Case Challenge for students. Now, he gets to take a deep dive into the different business units of Shopee, learning the ins and outs of how the business works and well on his way to becoming a master of the e-commerce game.

Seeing Shopee's leaders in action totally inspired Ron.  "They're like superheroes of e-commerce," he said, wanting to follow in their footsteps and make a real difference.  "It really made me look forward to carving out a career in e-commerce."

So what are you waiting for? You might just be the next e-commerce legend in the making. Visit  https://careers.shopee.ph/apprenticeprogram/ and apply now!

SeƱorita 89" Exposes the Hidden Secrets of 1980s Mexican Beauty Pageants

In the thrilling telenovela’s second season, the 90s are in full swing, and the search for a new Miss Mexico is dirtier than ever.

Following a dramatic first season, the glamorous Mexican telenovela Senorita 89 is back to deliver more dark secrets from the world of beauty pageants. After Isabel (Natasha DupeyrĆ³n) was crowned queen in Season 1 and Concepcion’s (Ilse Salas) luxurious La Encantada empire fell apart, the story shifts into the 90s and follows the battle between Mexico's two main television networks to crown the next queen. But while Isabel does everything to hold on to the crown, the arrival of a new queen threatens to undo her hard work and take everything from her.

Season 2 introduces new series regulars, including Dolores Heredia (El GalĆ”n) as La Madrina, mother of the cartels, and Yoshira EscĆ”rrega (Toda La Sangre) as Maribel MontaƱo, a.k.a. La Santa.

Senorita 89’s riveting drama continues to be an eye-opening watch for political thriller fans everywhere. It maintains its focus on addressing relevant issues such as misogyny, beauty stereotypes, and the objectification of women while showing the power of female solidarity, the weight of resilience, and the importance of challenging the status quo.

Talking about what Season 2 will bring, series showrunner and creator Lucia Puenzo told Deadline: “After the incredible reception of the first season, both in Mexico and the rest of the world, it was an immense joy to receive the confirmation that there would be a second season.”

Puenzo adds, “In the second season, our protagonists have understood that nothing is achieved by asking for forgiveness or permission. They are ready to set fire to all limits, borders, privileges… and break once and for, all the stereotypes that say that only princesses have the right to exist.”

Uncover what lies under the glitz and glamour of pageantry with Senorita 89 Season 2, streaming on Lionsgate Play this March 15.

Lenten Break Travel Essentials: Your Peak Reminder Checklist

Every year, Filipinos look forward to the Holy Week as a time to reflect and reunite with their families and loved ones. May it be to participate in religious activities or go on a much-deserved vacation, every Juan should have a comfortable air travel experience.

As airports are expected to get busy at this time of the year, here are a few reminders from Cebu Pacific to make air travel much easier:

1. Be on time at the airport

Cebu Pacific and Cebgo passengers must allot time for traffic going to the airport. Passengers must be at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 and 4 at least three (3) hours before departure for domestic flights, and four (4) hours for international flights. Passengers traveling to Dubai are allowed to check in as early as seven (7) hours before departure.

2. Check in online

Long lines may be avoided at the airport by checking in via the official CEB mobile app or via the Manage Booking section of the CEB website. Both options are available from 48 hours up to one (1) hour before scheduled time of departure for domestic flights, and up to four (4) hours before scheduled departure for international fliers.

Passengers who checked-in online and do not have checked-in baggage may enter through NAIA Terminal 3 Gate 1 and go straight to the boarding gates. They only need to show their digital boarding pass to enter.

3. Accomplish eTravel Forms

For a smooth experience at the immigration counters, passengers traveling internationally are encouraged to register or update their eTravel forms within 72 hours or three (3) days before departure from and arrival to the Philippines, then save the QR code generated at the end of the form.

For round-trip international flights, passengers are required to accomplish the eTravel form twice --- once for the departure flight, and again for the arrival flight.

eTravel forms can be accomplished by accessing www.etravel.gov.ph.

4. Pack your bags accordingly

Passengers may board the flight with one (1) carry-on bag that fits in the overhead bin and one (1) personal item like a purse, small backpack, or laptop bag that fits under the seat in front. Both bags must not exceed 7kg in weight. Bags that are not within the allowable size or weight will be intercepted and charged at the boarding gate.

5. Checked baggage policy

Passengers are encouraged to purchase prepaid baggage online via the CEB website or mobile app to save on fees. CEB has recently enhanced its baggage policy where passengers may now avail up to three (3) pieces of 20kg baggage.

For every piece of baggage purchased, passengers may also add an extra 4kg, 8kg, or 12kg weight allowance on top of the initial 20kg.

Passengers can save on fees if they pre-purchase baggage allowance or extra bags online, which is up to 4x cheaper than airport charges.

Customers may buy the prepaid bags as they book their flights or add additional baggage allowance via the Manage Booking portal of the CEB website or mobile using their MyCebuPacific accounts up to two (2) hours before departure.

6. Self-tag luggage for select domestic destinations

Guests flying out of select domestic destinations (Manila, Davao, Clark, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, Bohol, Iloilo, Siargao, and Zamboanga) are reminded to self-tag their check-in luggage at the designated kiosks at the airport, prior to proceeding to counters for bag drops.

7. Check flight information, closing times

Check-in counters close 45 minutes before the scheduled time of departure for domestic flights and one (1) hour for international flights to ensure there is ample time for all necessary pre-flight procedures. After checking in, we encourage passengers to immediately go through immigration and final security to avoid delays. Boarding commences 45 minutes before the scheduled departure.

Updated flight information may be viewed at www.cebupacificair.com/flight-status.

8. Check the airport terminal assignment of your flight

Passengers must check their itineraries and boarding passes before proceeding to their designated airport terminal. Cebu Pacific’s 5J flights arrive at and depart from the NAIA Terminal 3, while Cebgo (DG) flights to and from Manila operate from the NAIA Terminal 4 at Domestic Road, Pasay City.

We are grateful to every Juan for choosing to fly with us. We look forward to more travels with you, and your families and friends. CEB currently flies to 35 domestic and 24 international destinations spread across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. Visit www.cebupacificair.com for more information.
